The research group of European Political Studies Branch of the Chinese Association for European Studies (CAES), the Institute of European Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences’ innovation project "Adjustment of the European Social Model and Its Development" and "Institutional Changes in the Evolution of European Integration and their External Effects", in collaboration with the Center for European Studies of Shandong University, held their first annual meeting of “Society Transformation and Political Institution Evolution of the European Society” and the European Political Studies Branch in Jinan, Shandong Province, on 1 and 2 November 2014. More than 20 scholars from several universities and research institutes such as the Institute of European Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University, Tongji University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, and including Shandong University and the Party School of Shandong Province, participated in the conference. The scholars presented their views on European democracy and party politics, European security and climate politics, European social transformation, and the Marxist perspective of the European civilization and other topics were discussed in depth. The conference was organized by the Center for European Studies of Shandong University.
